Giving Tuesday

Turkey, Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Pumpkin Pie

Like the staples of your favorite Thanksgiving meal, we can’t choose just one #GivingTuesday opportunity to highlight for our LSU Health Shreveport family…so we put a few options out there for you to choose from. If you’re feeling thankful this holiday season, show your gratitude to LSU Health Shreveport.

The White Coat Society

Want to directly support Medical Students with your donation? Become a member of the White Coat Society at LSU Health. The White Coat Society purchases each medical student their official short white coat and provides funding for student driven initiatives, like hydration stations, smart TVs, and study room renovations.

Feist Weiller Cancer Center Pain Fund

The Mellanea and Max Rosenbloom Memorial Fund provides pain medication for cancer patients who have no other resources. Patients work through Feist-Weiller Cancer Center social workers to have these prescriptions filled. In a time of rising drug costs, the Pain Fund provides vital relief for FWCC patients suffering from a variety of cancers.

Reach Out and Read North Louisiana

Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. Trained doctors and nurses speak with parents about the importance of reading aloud, starting in infancy. At each regular checkup from 6 months through 5 years of age, the child receives a new book to take home. You can buy a book for a child for $2.50, or you can support that child’s literacy throughout their time at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport for only $25.

The PA Program 25th Anniversary Scholarship

As we celebrate the 25th year of preparing qualified Physician Assistants to provide health care for Louisiana citizens, we are embarking on a bold plan to expand access to the LSU Health Shreveport Allied Health PA program. We are excited to announce the creation of a new scholarship fund for highly qualified students. These scholarships will allow us to enhance our recruitment efforts and grow our program.
