Registration Now Open for Summer 2017 MINI MED SCHOOL!

Registration is now open for Mini Med’s Summer 2017 session.  

Launched in 2012, this popular program gives community members an insider’s view of the medical school as they learn from LSU Health Shreveport faculty. Classes start the evening of August 1st and continue every Tuesday through August 22nd.

Cost for the Mini Med School is $40 and includes a white lab coat for each participant, or $20 for past participants.

Summer 2017 Schedule

Tuesdays, 5:30 to 7 pm

Please register by July 28. Registration includes all dates. We hope you will join us each time or for as many as your schedule allows.



5:30-7 p.m. August 1: Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine
Dr. Shane Barton, Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, will share the latest in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.


5:30-7 p.m. August 8: Allied Health Professions
Mini Med participants will get hands-on training from LSU Health’s School of Allied Health Professions, which includes programs in occupational and physical therapy, physician assistant, speech language pathology and more. This session will be held at the School of Allied Health Professions building located at 1450 Claiborne Ave. on the LSU Health campus. 


5:30-7 p.m. August 15: Pediatrics
Learn how the many subspecialties in LSU Health’s Pediatrics put the well-being of children first.  


5:30-7 p.m. August 22: Research & Clinical Trials
Learn more about research efforts at LSU Health Shreveport and how that work leads to clinical trials.
