Mini Med Spring Session Set for March, 2019
LSU Health Shreveport is holding its Spring Mini Medical School session starting March 5, 2019. This four-week program is held from 5:30-7:15 pm Tuesdays through March 26, 2019.
Tuesday, March 5: When Snoozing is Stressful: Diagnosing Sleep Disorders
Tuesday, March 12 – How to Save a Life: Critical Care Medicine & Extracorporeal Life Support Service
Tuesday, March 19 – Arts in Medicine at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center: How Creativity Helps Patients Cope with Cancer
Tuesday, March 26 – Center for Excellence in Arthritis and Rheumatology: Types of Arthritis & Treatments
Mini Med School at LSU Health Shreveport began in the spring of 2012 when 30 community members put on white coats and got a taste of medical school The program has been repeated at least twice a year, with more than 300 Mini Med graduates in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Taught by medical school leadership and faculty, "students" learn about important health topics and the latest developments in healthcare fields. Sessions are typically held every spring and fall.
Cost for the Mini Med School is $40 for new participants, which includes a white lab coat and all four sessions. The fee for returning Mini Med alums is $20. Registration includes all dates.
