The White Coat Society
Support Our Students
What is the White Coat Society?
Funds raised through the White Coat Society allow us to purchase the short white coats that are presented to our medical students in the spring of their second year. These funds are also used to support additional student projects throughout the year. When students present us with a need, it’s important to have funds available to meet the needs quickly.
Dollar for dollar, the White Coat Society is the best way to support medical students at LSU Health Shreveport, as 98% of your donation goes directly to support student life.
As an alumnus, you can play a vital part in the White Coat Ceremony for our medical students. Members of the sophomore class will receive their coats before faculty, family, and friends as they take an oath affirming their commitment to the highest standard of ethics in patient care.
In the pocket of each coat will be an envelope with a card that has a message of encouragement from one of our alumni. When you join the White Coat Society, we ask that you offer a few words of wisdom to next generation of LSU physicians. What do you wish someone had told you when you were beginning your career?
Our Foundation will mail your card to complete once your donation is received.
Your gift powers our vision and helps the LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport remain at the forefront of healing, learning and discovering. Your generosity is helping to transform medicine and lives.
