Michael Williams
An Evening for Healers 2011
Michael Williams was driving home one night in 2009 and stopped at a red light in front of First Methodist Church in downtown Shreveport. A tornado swept down Texas Street, toppling the 8 ½ ton church steeple onto Michael’s car, crushing it with Michael inside. After spending 55 minutes to extricate him, firefighters rushed Michael to LSU Hospital in Shreveport where the trauma team worked on his multiple serious injuries, including a broken back, broken sternum, and head injury. Months in a hospital bed at home and the love of friends and family helped Michael heal. He will never forget the heroes who saved his life and now lives each day in gratitude for their efforts.
