“Artistic Expressions” Exhibit

presented by the Adult Sickle Cell program at Ochsner LSU Health—Feist-Weiller Cancer Center

In honor of World Sickle Cell Awareness Day on June 19, we’re proud to present “Artistic Expressions: June 19 is World Sickle Cell Awareness Day,” a powerful exhibit created by and for the sickle cell community.

In 2023, the Adult Sickle Cell program at Ochsner LSU Health—Feist-Weiller Cancer Center (FWCC) launched “Artistic Expressions: June 19 is World Sickle Cell Awareness Day” to raise awareness and celebrate the creative voices of sickle cell warriors, caregivers, providers, and community artists. The month-long art exhibit features painting, photography, mixed media, pottery, and more and can be viewed throughout FWCC.

At Feist-Weiller Cancer Center (FWCC), oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, radiologists, therapists, and researchers collaborate to offer preeminent cancer care, research, and educational programs. FWCC is the only academic cancer center in the northern half of Louisiana, an area with immense need and some of the highest incidences of cancer in the nation. This reality provides us the opportunity to better serve our communities and make an incredible difference in cancer research and treatment.

The faculty and staff at Feist-Weiller are developing a patient-centered, multidisciplinary approach aimed at improving clinical outcomes through the use of precision medicine and customized treatment plans. This includes enhancements to our clinical infrastructure and expanding cancer services in Shreveport and Monroe. FWCC also boasts the Partners in Wellness program – a mobile cancer screening program that delivers critical screening and education to rural areas in north Louisiana.
