Endowed Giving

Create A Endowment

Donors may choose to create an endowment. They are a great way to ensure the future success of LSU Health Shreveport. Endowments exist in perpetuity – the principal remains intact and only a portion of the earnings are expended for the benefit of the institution. With a minimum gift of $25,000, an endowment can be created to support any number of important endeavors on campus. Along with endowments come a wide range of naming opportunities from naming scholarship endowments to naming units, buildings, or entire schools.

Two of the most prestigious endowments are chairs and professorships.

These consists of gifts of $1,000,000 (for a chair) or $100,000 (for a professorship). Each endowment can be named in honor or memory of a loved one and is bestowed upon a faculty member. Examples would be the E. Earle Dilworth, MD Endowed Professorship in Obstetrics and Gynecology held by Dr. David Lewis and the Charles Richard Parks Professorship in Neurological Rehabilitation held by Dr. Suzanne Tinsley.

The Foundation invests endowed gifts prudently and conservatively across a number of diverse investment vehicles. Endowment funds are dispersed yearly at a 4% rate to support the academic, research, and clinical mission of LSU Health Shreveport.

Endowments are crucial because they support the growth and expansion of LSU Health Shreveport, as well as the research, education, and patient care that it provides to the surrounding community.
