2020 Endowed professorships

On December 1, 2020 our Foundation celebrated the announcement of 2 new endowed professorships for the LSU Health Sciences Center.

It is an honor to acknowledge these gracious donors who made these endowments possible. Every gift to LSU Health Shreveport helps to enhance excellence on our campus. But endowed gifts are unique because they support both today’s initiatives and tomorrow’s vision in perpetuity. We are extremely grateful to the donors of these gifts for recognizing the value of creating these endowed funds.

David N. Cole

Mr. Cole was moved to create this professorship as a show of gratitude after the years of physical therapy Dr. Marie Vazquez Morgan provided him. This professorship will provide a faculty member the financial support for research and programs focused on the health and wellness needs in underserved communities in our region.

Thank you to Mr. Cole and his wife, Margaret Shehee Cole who have a long history of philanthropy to LSU Health Shreveport.

We also celebrated the formal investiture and recognition of Marie Vazquez Morgan, Ph.D, PT as the inaugural holder of the David N. Cole Professorship in Community Health Initiatives.

We know she will accomplish incredible things with this professorship.

Max M. Morelock

Endowed Professorship in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery

This endowed professorship was born from the appreciation for the care that Mr. Morelock and his wife of 50 years Jasmine both received from Dr. Cherie Ann Nathan and her team. Jasmine along with her son, Dr. Maurice Morelock, finalized this professorship just before her passing in 2019. Jasmine and her son, Dr. Maurice Morelock have a passion for encouraging scientific research at all levels of the medical school from students, to residents, to faculty.

Thank you to the Morelock family for making this professorship possible.

We also celebrated the formal investiture and recognition of Paige E. Bundrick, MD as the holder of the Max M. Morelock Professor in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Bundrick is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Otolaryngology and completed her medical school training, residency, and fellowship at LSU Health Shreveport.
